Joe Parisien is a well established
professor at St. Lawrence College, Cornwall. For this reason Joe
is able to speak freely on why he enjoys the campus and what it
has to offer. He says, We have always thought of our programs
as being unique! He explained to us that the technology programs
allow the students to have the opportunity to change their areas
of expertise, further stating that the students always have the
option to decide what field they would like to branch into. Promoting
the College seems to be an easy task for Joe, Not only does
our faculty have a wealth of knowledge and experience, but our facilities
are top notch!
Joes education stemmed from
St. Lawrence College, Cornwall, where he graduated from the Electronic
Engineering and Technology Program. Even though the programs
we offer may have the same title as other institutions [Microcomputer
Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technician - Network
Systems], we consider our programs unique due to the mix of hardware
and software that is delivered. Due to the changing technology,
the content of our programs must be constantly evaluated and changed
to reflect the needs of our students. For that reason Joe
must continuously upgrade himself in terms of technology. After
graduation from St. Lawrence College, Joe worked at GTE Sylvania
Electric and GTE Automatic Electric (Microtel) where he gained experience
in test engineering and digital design before returned to teach
in 1982.
The first thing we noticed in Joes
office was his running shoes. He tells us that he enjoys healthy
living and is an avid walker. He also adds that he likes sports,
and is a big fan of the Americas Cup (yachting) held every
few years. Busy as he is, Joe is a key organizer for the Journey
to the Father youth conference that is taking place this summer
in St. Raphaels.
